Our small publishing house has grown exponentially over the past three years: we now have thirty manuscripts waiting in the wings, two new authors are coming on board, and eight of our books are being translated into other languages. Our staff has grown as well — we currently have the editors, book designers, and translators needed to nicely handle the growth. Following are the ten titles we are currently preparing for publication.
If any of the titles move you and you would like to make their publication possible with a donation, we would be honored to dedicate the book to the person or cause of your choosing. In addition, your sponsored book will be moved up to the front of the publishing schedule.
Zen Bites
Nothing is truth or lie, everything is such as the color of the glass through which it is seen. – Spanish poet Ramón de Campoamor Religion is based on faith; Zen is based on doubt. Observation creates doubt, because the observer creates the world she observes, by coloring it with the glass through which she sees it. In doing so, the observer becomes the observed. It doesn’t matter if the observer is a scientist, poet, or peasant, she is looking at herself when she looks at something. But it didn’t start that way. When we first experience something, it exists ...
The Talking Circle
By Tamarack Song Caution: The contents of this book are known to bring about deep healing, peacefully resolve conflict, and create an uncommon sense of community. The Talking Circle is a useful consensus-based creative, conflict resolution, and community building tool that is commonly practiced in indigenous cultures. It fits seamlessly into contemporary work, school, political, social, and cultural environments. Yet the Talking Circle concept often meets with resistance when initially presented. Some people think conflict is a necessary part of progress. However, differences turn into conflict only in an environment of mistrust. When there is empathy and the desire to ...
Taming the Dragon
When we are traumatized as little children, we tuck away that innocent, trusting, fun-loving part of ourselves deep inside for safekeeping. We guard that precious gem with our self-protective ego—our Dragon. Then the time comes when we have matured and healed to the point where we can reach out to our sheltered child—that lost part of our souls—and say, "Come and take my hand—It is now safe, and I am able take care of you. We will again be our whole self, with the wisdom of age rejoined with the joy and spontaneity of youth." That rescuing of our lost ...
The Secret World of the Wolf
Wolves are anything but simple chase-and-kill hunters. They develop sophisticated strategies that rival those of professional sports teams. It starts with having a 25% larger brain than Dogs, coupled with a highly evolved envisioning and coordinating intelligence. Add to that one of the most complex and precise languages in the animal kingdom, and you have not only a very advanced hunter, but an animal with the ability to pass on sophisticated knowledge to offspring and create a warm and safe home environment that would be the envy of many Human families. Yet this book has no data, no graphs, no ...
Survival Philosophy
Many of the values and personal qualities of long-term wilderness dwellers differ markedly from those of survivalists and campers. This book bridges the gap by showing that in order to know what to do when living primitively—and how to do it well and consistently—one needs to know its history and evolution. It's the same with any relationship: the better you know how a tool was used in the past, the better you can adapt it to the present situation; and the better you know a person's character and history, the better the two of you can work together. Survival Philosophy ...
Indigenous Survival Secrets for the Long Haul
You need to know right off the top that this isn't your typical survival book. If you want to learn basic skills such as firemaking, shelter building, and map-and-compass reading, there are many good books on the market that will serve you much better than this one. Here we focus on long-term survival. Many of the short-term survival skills commonly taught are largely inconsequential in a long-term survival situation. In fact focusing on them could end up killing you. Next, you need to know that in a survival situation, fancy baskets and nicely fluted arrowheads aren't going to save you ...
Animal Guide
by Tamarack Song Animal Guides are emblematic of a traditional way of life that preceded Western civilization. Yet they are just as alive and well today as they were in the time of our hunter-gatherer ancestors. Superheroes such as Batman, Spiderman, and Catwoman are contemporary examples, as are Guardian Angels and Patron Saints. We are in the midst of a great resurgence in Animal Guide awareness. Many of us are fortunate to know our Guides, some of us will meet them in ceremony or dreams, and some of us already know them but don't recognize them as such. Or as ...
Wilderness Stress and Trauma: Management Protocols for Therapy Programs, Outdoor Schools, and Expeditions

The insights that you show indicate someone of tremendous experience, passion and Vision." – Tom Brown, Jr. Up until now, there has been no text devoted to the unique circumstances around managing stress and trauma in the wilds. - Follow-up support guidelines for clients/students.
- Performance assessments for improving program psycho-emotional safety and support.
Breaking the Trauma Code: Prevention and Release Methods That Work the Way We Work
by Tamarack Song It is commonly believed that trauma is a scourge, and traumatization is to be avoided at all costs. While there are way too many horrendous cases of traumatization—especially when it involves powerless people and children—there is another side to trauma that we would do well to explore and apply. In the natural world, traumatization is essential for survival. Virtually all higher animals who reach maturity and reproduce have been traumatized. Trauma memories are indelible for a reason: they keep the animal from ending up in the same situation that resulted in the initial traumatization, thus greatly increasing ...
Trance-Trauma Release: Shamanic Tools for Mending the Tortured Mind
by Tamarack Song There is a tried-and-true trauma recovery method that has been honed and refined over countless generations. Its shamanic practitioners come from a long, unbroken line that has continually passed the tools and techniques down to the next generation. This book holds those teachings. Here we go in-depth into the full range of trauma release gateways available to us. Each is rooted in the body and the limbic process because our trauma memories themselves are wordless and stored in our somatic self, which exists in a wordless reality. It is only by entering the trance state that we ...
